Charleston, SC – February 5, 2025 – Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lacy Miller is set to release her newest single, Jonathan's Song, on February 14, 2025, just in time for Valentine’s Day and the upcoming wedding season. The deeply personal ballad, inspired by her own love story has only been heard by the public once, on Lacy’s wedding day, when she managed to pull off a romantic surprise during the ceremony.

“It was so hard to keep this a secret from Jonathan,” Lacy recalls. “He had suggested the hymn Come Thou Fount for my bridal entrance and I was thinking, how can I make this work? I called our organist and she helped me hatch a plan!”

The wedding organist at First Baptist Church of Charleston, South Carolina secretly met with Lacy. She transposed Come Thou Fount to match the key of Jonathan’s Song and made meticulous notes as to the timing of the hymn and the transition point where the hymn would fade and the surprise song would play–when Lacy reached the first set of columns in the historic sanctuary, to be exact.

“There you stand, waiting to take my hand, the look in your eyes I’ll memorize, hold it forever.” As the first line of the song played, you could hear quiet murmurs of guests asking, “Is that the bride’s voice?” and “Did she write this?” Jonathan knew. And the look in his eyes is one Lacy will hold forever in her mind.

The heartfelt lyrics of Jonathan’s Song encapsulate the powerful emotion of a bride gazing at her groom, swelling into a beautiful harmony-laden chorus where Lacy recorded all of her own background vocals. The song culminates in the tender hook, “I know that my heart is safe in your hands.” These words perfectly echo Lacy’s feelings after Jonathan proposed to her on Folly Beach near the iconic Morris Island Lighthouse.

The bridge of the song is personal, yet relatable, as Lacy describes how a heart can have protective walls from painful experiences. In her case, growing up in a home with domestic violence, safety and trust were areas she had to work hard to heal in, but as the song says, “You broke down the walls that covered my scars, searched for the key and you opened the door to my heart. I can’t explain, just how it feels to have someone who loves me for real.”

“That last part of the bridge, someone who loves me for real,” Lacy says, that is the most personal and raw line for me. With the childhood trauma I experienced, knowing when it is safe to trust and when someone loves you for real is a big deal. Jonathan is one of the most patient and selfless people I have ever met. He backs up his words with actions again and again and I know that I know he loves me for real. I thank God for him every day.”

To bring this heartfelt composition to life, Lacy worked with Argentinian producer Ariel Delgado, whose impressive credits include work on The Voice and Disney productions. Delgado, also the producer behind Lacy’s debut single House on a Hill, masterfully crafted the instrumentation for Jonathan’s Song. Lacy recorded the vocals at Coast Records, with engineering by Matt Zutell.

“I hope this song encourages people to wait for the right one” says Lacy. “One of my favorite definitions of the word love is actually from a book in the Bible 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. That is true love. That is Jonathan.”

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.”

~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, NIV
